Jen Mills creates video, sculpture and installations that alter the sense of time by filtering memory and experience. Her sculptural objects blur the line between function and memory, giving clues for an undetermined or mysterious use.

Mills' artwork is both the site and evidence of past actions. The materials she uses are chosen for their associations to use, the body, healing, and memory. Her objects and installations combine function and sculpture, provide clues, but not enough to provide any answers. Her goal is to achieve a balance between the known and the unknown.

Mills has an MFA in Ceramics from the Cranbrook Academy of Art, and a BA in Religion and Art History from the University of Puget Sound. She is a recipient of an Artist Support Grant from Jack Straw Productions, and has been a visiting artist and lecturer at Wayne State University, Detroit, MI and Wichita State University. She currently teaches art at South Seattle Community College.
