Heave, 2009

Paper, wood, rope, ceramic

10 3/4 feet high x 4 1/2 feet diameter

Heave, a nautical term referring to the vertical motion of objects in the water, is a site-responsive installation that explores the uncertainty of navigation and direction.

Specifically based on the nun buoy that marks a particular site underwater that is otherwise unseen, this installation is a response to Pier 56 in Seattle, WA and its history as a fishing terminal.
